The Pastry Kitchen - Walthamstow
Our Walthamstow store is home to our pastry kitchen and is where our brilliant pastry chefs create our brownies, doughnuts, pastries and special celebration cakes & cupcakes! These treats are then delivered to all our stores fresh every morning in the Eat 17 van, so you can pick them up from our Bishop’s Stortford, Hackney or Walthamstow store.
Our head pastry chef, Thomasina, graduated with a masters in fashion before deciding that pastries where the way forward. After baking her way through Nigella Lawson’s ‘How to be a Domestic Goddess’ and perfecting her Martha Stewart frosting technique, Thomasina landed a job with Lola’s Cupcakes and was quickly appointed head decorator, creating many of Lola’s beloved ranges.
Thomasina has now joined us in our Walthamstow pastry kitchen, where she’s baking up a storm and helping us create amazing seasonal doughnuts, celebration cakes & cupcakes!
The Prep Kitchen - Hackney
The kitchen in our Hackney store is where our amazing chefs create our fantastic fresh ready meals and sarnies.
We were tired of pre-made meals using rubbish ingredients and all sorts of things that just shouldn’t be there. We also appreciate how nice it is to get in, put your feet up, and chuck something in the oven or microwave. So, we’ve done the hard work for you and created a huge range of ready meals and lunches for you to grab and go while trying our best to keep the prices keen.
Lunch choices include a chicken and bacon club, caprese wraps, and a range of salads and healthy lunch boxes. For dinner, we’ve got a range of dishes from tabbouleh, packed with flavour, to addictive Dan Dan noodles and vegan, chicken or beef Thai curries.
We’ve also created loads of authentic pasta dishes, like slow-cooked ragu and gnocchi pomodoro. If you fancy something richer, try our amazing saffron risotto with lobster bisque.
The Bakery - Bishops Stortford
Situated next door to our cafe & bar, Bishop’s Stortford ins store bakery is where our expert bakers create our very special 24-hour cold proved sourdough.
This sourdough is made to a very specific recipe, shaped in sourdough baskets or into baguettes, and left to slow prove in the chiller for 24-hours. It is then baked fresh every morning and delivered to all our stores first thing, so you can have the best fresh bread in the morning!
Our sourdough loaves come in seeded, wholemeal, white loaves, as well as our baguettes and demi-baguettes.
The baguettes are used in our salad & smoothie bar for our deicious sandwiches, jam-packed with fresh ingredients, and our loaves are sliced and used for the ultimate gooey toasties.
